Each year, industry leaders in superyacht construction continue to push the limits, building vessels that are larger and more technologically advanced than ever before. German powerhouse Lürssen currently has the most large-scale superyacht projects underway, claiming four from this list. However, the largest project is that of the Norwegian shipyard Vard. Their 182.9m project REV Ocean is impressive not only for its size but also for its ambition to become the world's most sophisticated research vessel.


According to data from BOAT Pro superyacht market intelligence, these are the 9 largest superyachts currently under construction:


1. REV Ocean

Length Overall: 182.90 m • Builder: Vard

Explorer yacht scheduled for delivery in January 2024. She is a revolutionary vessel that combines luxury with a commitment to scientific research and exploration. She boasts a maximum range of 21120.0 nm, with power coming from a diesel-electric engine.



2. Project Alibaba

Length Overall: 142.08 m • Builder: Lurssen

Project Alibaba is a 142.08 m Motor Yacht, currently being built in Germany by Lurssen and to be delivered in 2025. She is constructed with a steel displacement hull with a bulbous bow, and an aluminium superstructure.


3. Dream Symphony

Length Overall: 141m • Builder: Dream Ship Victory

The four-masted schooner-rigged sailing yacht is set to become the largest sailing yacht in the world when launched. Constructed entirely from wood, epoxy laminated iroko to be precise, it would also break numerous engineering feats.



4. Project Luminance

Length Overall: 138.80 m • Builder: Lurssen

Project Luminance is a 138.8 m motor yacht built in Germany by Lurssen and recently launched. She is scheduled for delivery this summer. She has a gross tonnage of 8999.0 GT and a 20m beam.



5. Project XXX

Length Overall: 130 m • Builder: Lurssen

PROJECT XXX is a 130.0 m motor yacht, currently being built in Germany by Lurssen and set to be delivered in 2025. She will be a full displacement yacht with a gross tonnage of 9000.0 GT.



6. Privilege One

Length Overall: 127 m • Builder: Privilege Yard

Privilege One is a 127.0 m motor yacht, currently being built in Italy and is to be delivered in 2024. She has a gross tonnage of 8700.0 GT and a 22.0 m beam. Her top speed is 23.0 kn and her power comes from three ABB diesel-electric engines.



7. Project Jag

Length Overall: 122 m • Builder: Lurssen

Scheduled for delivery in 2023, the yacht features accommodation for 20 guests in 11 cabins. Standout features will include a helipad, beauty salon, spa, sauna, swimming pool, indoor and outdoor cinema, dance floor, gym and elevator.



8. Aberking 6514

Length Overall: 122 m • Builder: Abekring & Rasmussen

Aberking 6514 is a 120.0 m motor yacht currently being built in Germany and set to be delivered in 2025. She will have a gross tonnage of 5000.0 GT and is set to become the flagship of Abeking & Rasmussen.



9. Amels 120 Full Custom

Length Overall: 120 m • Builder: Amels

Originally signed in 2020, the Amels 120 Full Custom is set to take her place as head of the fleet when delivered in 2025. She is the largest Amels built to date, with naval architecture by Damen Yachting and a stunning, 5-deck exterior design by Espen Øino.
