AV/IT Officers are responsible for a wide variety of media systems on board, including internet and satellite connectivity, bridge systems, lights and blinds, sound systems and other equipment.
The role of an AV/IT Officer can also be compared closely to the role of an ETO (Electro – Technical Officer). The similarity lies in the fact that an ETO Officer works with electrical systems and high voltage to ensure safe performance of the yacht’s electrical systems.
Yachts from 70m in length typically employ one person who is dual-skilled (ETO / AV/IT), or, occasionally, an AV/IT Officer who can assist the mechanical team with general maintenance.
Yachts over 100m | 330ft in length will generally have both dedicated AV/IT Officers and dedicated ETO Officers on board due to the scale of technology and systems on board.
