The Captains and Officers Department at YPI CREW is dedicated to the placement of senior crew on board superyachts: Captains, Chief Officers, Second Officers, and Third Officers. These are the roles that carry the ultimate responsibility for the safe operation of a vessel, the wellbeing of its crew, and the successful delivery of its programme. Recruiting at this level requires a deep understanding of the culture, expectations, and operational profile of each yacht, and the ability to match it with crew whose experience and leadership style will be the right fit for the long term.

Under the leadership of Esther Delamare, Head of the Captains and Officers Department, the team has built long-standing relationships with senior crew, Management Companies, and Yacht Owners or their Owners' Representatives around the world. A senior placement is rarely a quick process. It can unfold over several months, beginning with confidential conversations to understand both the yacht's specific requirements and the candidate's career aspirations. Succeeded by an in-depth interviewing and vetting process and a thorough follow-up process once the candidate is placed. It is a bespoke, relationship-driven service for a community of senior professionals who trust YPI CREW to handle their careers with the discretion they deserve.

A growing team

We are delighted to share that the department has recently expanded with the arrival of Asia Johal, who joins YPI CREW as a Captain and Officer Recruitment Specialist. Asia will be working alongside Esther Delamare and Caitlin Sorrell to place junior and senior officers on board. She brings with her four seasons of first-hand yachting experience as a Stewardess, a multilingual background (French, English, and Italian), and a Master's Degree in Luxury Marketing Management, Hospitality and Events from the International University of Monaco.

Asia's arrival strengthens a team that sits at the heart of our work with some of the most respected yachts and Owners in the industry, and we are very pleased to welcome her on board.
