Laurence Lewis

Laurence Lewis is the President and founder of YPI CREW, the company which, under her leadership since 2002, has gone on to become the frontrunner in the yacht crew recruitment industry. 

Laurence is privileged to be working with a dedicated, talented and courageous team of recruiters who have shared her journey for many years, giving them a deep understanding of the industry and allowing them to be fast and efficient problem solvers. 

Laurence has a clear vision of what effective recruitment is and this involves surrounding herself by recruiters who have a voice and actively communicate with clients and candidates to provide a tailored service, resulting in successful placements. “We aren’t CV pushers, we are solution finders." 

In 2018, Laurence’s success at YPI CREW came to the attention of the Schulte Group, one of the top 3 largest ship management companies in the world, who, through their Singaporean affiliated company, took the majority stake in YPI CREW. This was a proud moment and the culmination of years of dedicated work and the recognition of Laurence’s entrepreneurial spirit. 

As President of YPI CREW, Laurence oversees the daily operations of the company with flair and efficiency, guided by her Company values of “Trust and Partnership” at the heart of all her actions. 

Laurence is known for being fair and approachable, she’s a fast decision maker who takes a long term view on any issues landing on her desk. She likes to quote a line from Michael Gambon in one of her favourite movie The Layer Cake : “The art of good business is the art of being a good middleman”.  Could not get a better quote for a recruiter!
